Futurity Stakes Purpose & Rules
Purpose: To encourage the breeding of
the best possible Bull Terriers and to reward the breeders for their
efforts. Thus, the futurity stakes is weighted toward the breeder.
Recognition is also given to the owners in whose hands lie the
responsibility of developing the inherited potential.
General Rules:
Correct and timely nominations of both the litter and
the individual puppy are required for stakes eligibility.
Prize money can only be won through competition in the
stake judging.
Nomination forms are secured from the Futurity
Director (also available for print from this website).
Nomination of Litter:
Nominator must be the breeder or co-breeder, and must
be a member in good standing of the BTCA at both the time of nomination
and at the time of the stake judging.
Nomination must be after the date of breeding, but
before the puppies are born. Postmark of envelope transmitting the
nomination determines date of nomination.
Fee is $20.00. There will be no
refunds.
Nomination of the litter makes each puppy in the
litter eligible for individual nomination.
Nomination of Puppy:
Must be by owner, who need not be a BTCA member.
Nomination must be made before a puppy reaches four
(4) months of age. Postmark of envelope transmitting
nomination determines date of nomination.
Fee is $10.00 for each nomination.
There will be no refunds.
An entire litter may be individually nominated by
paying the fee for each puppy and supplying whelping date, names, sex,
color and registration numbers. If registration numbers are
unavailable at time of nomination, these must be supplied as soon as
available, but in no case later than eight (8) weeks prior to stake
judging.
Any changes to the identifying information from that
previously provided to the Futurity Director, must be received by the
Futurity Director no later than three (3) weeks prior to the stake
judging. Failure to provide such information will result in
disqualification.
Entry for Stake Judging:
Must be entered in a regular class, either
conformation or obedience, at the BTCA Specialty show and Obedience
Trial held in conjunction with the stake judging. Fee for
this entry must be paid.
Futurity Stake must be indicated as an additional
class entry, and the fee for additional class entry paid.
Additional class entry must include age and color
variety (i.e. - Futurity, 6-9, White). Puppies are eligible only
for the Futurity Stake which is in conjunction with the first BTCA
Specialty Show held on or after the puppy reaches six (6) months of age.
